FSSAI Registration for FBOs: An Overview

Because food is a commodity that is required for survival, it is an extremely important part of our economy. It is necessary for everyone. It is a well-accepted principle that an increase in consumer demand for a product will result in new commercial possibilities. Therefore, a large number of petty food makers such as Hawkers, temporary stallholders or itinerant vendors, or a tiny FBO that does its business inside the state and has an annual turnover of fewer than 12 lacs are affected by this law. Before they can start operating, each of these firms must first get registered with the FSSAI. To regulate the quality of food products and make certain that FBOs can supply food that is nutritious, wholesome, and sanitary to everyone, the registration of food as a product is required of these smaller food producers and FBOs

FSSAI Registration: Food registration is the fundamental component of an FBO's registration with FSSAI. Petty food producers or FBOs with a revenue of less than Rs 12 Lakhs are needed to have it unless the FBO is already obliged to have a license by either the state or the national government. Please refer to our in-depth discussion on applicability at: Applicability of FSSAI Registration or License on your Food Business for more information on whether or not this regulation applies to your company.

Once approval for food registration has been given, the registration will be valid for the time period chosen when the application was submitted. The FBO has the option of selecting a validity term between one and five years long. When an application for food registration is approved, the Registering Authority is required to provide the applicant with both a picture identification card and the FSSAI Registration Certificate. These need to be placed in a location where they can be seen by anybody who enters the vehicle, cart, premises, or any other location at which the individual engages in the selling or manufacturing of food as part of their Petty Food Business. An FBO that has

obtained a registration certificate from the FSSAI is allowed to begin doing business so long as it does so in accordance with the requirements outlined on the registration certificate. Every FBO that is awarded a registration certificate is required to adhere to standard hygiene and sanitation procedures
